This timely conference
dealt with:
- The history and status of
public—military relations, especially in Ivy League contexts;
- Progressive military
initiatives, such as:
* Official doctrine placing
stability and peace-keeping operations on par with the use of force,
* “Human terrain” teams that
advise military units on respecting local cultures,
* Interfaith religious
dialogues,
* Innovative programs
helping military personnel cope with combat.
